What are time management games?

A time management game is a video or real-life game you can play alone or in a group. These games require you to meet certain objectives, in a specific order, but with limited time and resources.

Most of these games are fast-paced and require you to plan and strategize, in order to use the limited resources and time as effectively as you can, before meeting the required objectives.

Aside from the fun aspect of gaming, studies show that gamers have enhanced brain activity and greater decision-making skills.

By playing these carefully selected time management games you’ll be able to:

  • Hone the skills you learn by using them in virtual scenarios,
  • Solve real-life work challenges,
  • Get a better grasp of the passage of time, and
  • Learn how to multitask , as most of the following games will require you to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Why play time management games?

There are several benefits to playing time management games, both the video and the real-life variety:

Time management games improve your reaction time

Considering that these games are fast-paced, they help improve your reflexes — unless you’re able to react on time to complete the challenges, the game will not let you move forward and progress.

Time management games help you perfect your planning and strategizing skills

The games listed below will require you to think ahead and execute the right strategies to reach the later stages of the game.

Even though it’s not a real-life scenario, facing unexpected problems and finding yourself in unknown surroundings will certainly help you improve your organizational and planning skills.

💡 Clockify Pro Tip

Aside from playing video games, you can improve your time management skills by following a couple of straightforward strategies listed in the following blog:

Time management games improve your teamwork abilities

Considering that most of these games require you to collaborate with others to reach the desired effects, you’ll learn how to cooperate and make the most of the time and resources you have, together with your friends and colleagues.

Time management games improve your resource management

Since these games require you to use the resources you have in an effective manner in order to progress, you’ll likely develop a good sense for resource management in real life as well.

Time management games help you understand the importance of time management

Last, but not least, most time management games are designed to help you understand the importance of time management and help you reassess your work routine.

For example, they can help you assess how your perception of time, organizational skills, and the understanding of the actions that lead to your goals may influence your work.

Office “offline” time management games (for team buildings)

Now it’s time to stop talking about having fun and learn more about the exact games you can try with your colleagues, friends, and family.

Up ahead, we have 14 engaging team time management games and activities you can easily play with your team at the office — even when you experience Internet downtime or a blackout:

How long is a minute?

How long is a minute

🔹 Great for : Figuring out how you and your colleagues perceive time.

🔹 How it’s played :

  • Bring people to a room with no clocks (or where all the clocks are covered),
  • Take away their phones and watches,
  • Instruct them to stand up and shut their eyes, and
  • Tell them to open their eyes when they think 60 seconds have passed.

🔹 What you’ll learn : Some people will open their eyes before the 60 seconds are up, and some will open them after. This game will help you better estimate the time it takes you to finish projects and tasks because you’ll understand how well you perceive time.

Circadian Rhythm

Cicardian rhytm

🔹 Great for : Recognizing optimal time for work.

  • Instruct your colleagues to plan a day in their life, from waking up to going to sleep.
  • A — High energy,
  • B — Autopilot control,
  • C — 70% energy level,
  • D — Distracted,
  • E — Slowing down for the day, and
  • F — Tired or hungry.

🔹 What you’ll learn : You’ll understand how energy levels change during the day, so you’ll be able to make better decisions about your schedules. Furthermore, you’ll learn more about yourself, in terms of whether you’re a night owl or a morning person .

🔹 Your team will learn :

  • When they should work on important, challenging tasks (during “high energy” time),
  • When they should tackle less important work (during “autopilot control” time or “70% energy level” time), and
  • When they should simply take a break (during “distracted” time).

You can even post all your completed charts on a wall, so everyone will know when to call their co-workers and for what type of tasks.

The Circadian Rhythm game is based on the individual’s biological prime time — to read more about it, check out the following Clockify blog:

  • How I calculated my biological prime time

What I did yesterday

What I did yesterday

🔹 Great for : Finding a link between work performance and activities.

  • Ask people at the office to write down 10 things they did yesterday while at work,
  • Then, ask people to write 5 things they expect to see on their next performance review ,
  • Look over the two lists for each person together, and make links between list items, and
  • Additional step: Have people rank the 10 things they did yesterday in terms of importance and urgency.

🔹 What you’ll learn : Many people will try to find indirect links between the things they did, and what they expect to be praised for in reviews, in order to justify their activities.

In the end, you’ll likely find that you spend too much time on activities that don’t impact performance and your professional output.

Colored blocks

Colored blocks

🔹 Great for : Stressing the importance of prioritizing.

  • Bring different-colored blocks to work and place them on a table,
  • Assign value to the blocks based on their color (blue = 1, green = 2, red = 3, etc.), and
  • Instruct the co-workers to gather as many points as possible in 60 seconds, by picking up one block at a time, but only with their non-dominant hand.

🔹 What you’ll learn : How to prioritize blocks in order to get the highest score. In the office, this translates to urgent and important tasks you need to prioritize and tackle every day in order to complete your tasks.

Race to the Ace of Spades

Race to the ace of spades

🔹 Great for : Understanding the importance of time management and proper organization.

  • Bring 2 decks of cards to work.
  • Organize the first deck of cards in order, from aces to kings, and all facing the same direction.
  • Mix up the second deck of cards and jumble them up so they don’t all face the same direction.
  • Pick two volunteers, and have each pick one deck of cards, without them knowing what you’ve done to the decks.
  • Instruct them to find the Ace of Spades.
  • Unless pure luck comes into play, the volunteer with the organized deck will find the Ace of Spades much faster, and the volunteer with the jumbled up deck will likely complain about the unfairness of the game.

🔹 What you’ll learn : The organized deck represents working on tasks in an organized, time-managed manner.

The other deck represents working on tasks in random order with no time scheduled. In the end, the advantage of an organized, time blocked schedule should be obvious.

If you’re struggling to prioritize tasks and determine which projects take priority, here’s a blog that might offer some insight:

Time Squared

Time squared

🔹 Great for : Identifying time wasters and extra time you didn’t even know you could have.

  • Give your co-workers 3 pieces of printed paper with 24 squares representing 24 hours in a day,
  • When you hand them the first paper, instruct them to fill out the squares with routine, daily activities they perform, such as sleeping (e.g. 8 squares), eating (e.g. 3 X 1 square), or watching TV (e.g. 2 squares),
  • When you hand them the second paper, instruct them to fill out the squares with the non-productive activities they perform at the office, such as private calls, or coffee-breaks, and
  • When you hand them the third paper, instruct them to compare the first two papers, and mark the empty squares.

🔹 What you’ll learn : By visualizing how they spend their time, your team will be able to identify unnecessary time wasters and see how they can minimize them to leave more room for important activities.

“Big Picture” puzzle challenge

Big puzzle challenge

🔹 Great for : Understanding the importance of having clear goals in mind when planning activities.

  • Give your team a puzzle and instruct them to solve it as quickly as possible, but don’t provide them with the “Big picture” that shows the finished puzzle,
  • Interrupt their process after 5 minutes, and ask them: “ What makes this task difficult? ”,
  • They’ll likely tell you that the problem is not knowing the expected outcome of  the puzzle, and
  • Give them the “Big picture” to continue, and see how they speed up and finish much faster.

🔹 What you’ll learn : Knowing where you’re supposed to end up makes planning the steps that will take you there much easier.

Unless you have the “Big picture” of a task that shows how the task relates to the project, it’ll be harder to figure out whether the task is important, or whether you should find different priorities.

86400

🔹 Great for : Emphasizing the importance of using time wisely.

  • Each member of your team is given $86,400 to spend within a day,
  • You can’t carry over what you didn’t spend today to tomorrow — anything you don’t spend is lost, and
  • Have everyone write down what activities they want to spend this money on.

🔹 What you’ll learn : The $86,400 you are given to spend are actually 86,400 seconds you have per day. So, instead of money, it’s actually time that you won’t be able to retrieve tomorrow if you lose it today.

This game will help you and your team understand how well you’re spending your time now (in relation to how you’d spend the amount of $86,400 and whether you’d waste any of it) and how you can best take back control of your time in the future.

The Ribbon of Life

Ribbon of life

🔹 Great for : Helping your team understand how much time you all have at your disposal to reach success.

  • Take a ribbon that’s 100cm long and a pair of scissors,
  • Ask your players about their estimation of the expected lifespan of an individual. The answer may depend on the country you’re living in, so let’s assume that you’re operating in the United States where people have an average lifespan of 76 years and that your team is aware of this piece of information. Cut off 24cm from your ribbon, to get 76cm,
  • Take the average age of your team into consideration. Say it’s 30 years, which means you’ll need to cut off 30 cm more,
  • The weekends (2 days X 52 weeks X 49 years / 365 days = 14 years/cm),
  • Public holidays (e.g. 10 days per year in the US X 49 years / 365 days = 1.3 years/cm),
  • Vacation time (e.g. 10 days on average in the US X 49 years, i.e. 1.3 years/cm),
  • Sick and other leave (e.g. 7 days on average in the US X 49 years / 365 days = 1 year/cm),
  • Sleeping (e.g. 8 hours per day x 365 x 49 / 24 / 365 = 16.3 years/cm),
  • Eating (e.g. 2 hours per day x 365 x 49 / 24 / 365 = 4 years/cm), and
  • Commuting  (e.g. 1 hour both ways x 365 x 49 / 24 / 365 = 2 years/cm), and
  • In the end, subtract these years from your lifespan and cut off these centimeters from your ribbon. The remaining length of the ribbon is the amount you have left to succeed in life.

🔹 What you’ll learn : Time is precious and you have a finite number of years to succeed in what you’re pursuing, so put those years to good use.

Delegation Skill Practice

Delegation

🔹 Great for : Teaching your team how to delegate tasks better.

  • The delegator,
  • The employee, and
  • The observer.
  • Instruct the “delegator” to define the most unpleasant task they usually have to perform at work,
  • Have the “delegator” delegate this task to an “employee” and explain it,
  • Give the “observer” a sheet of paper to write down notes about how well the delegator is explaining the task,
  • Give the “employee” a sheet of paper to write down notes about the points to go over while working on the delegated task,
  • Discuss how well the task was explained on a subteam level,
  • Play three rounds of this game, to give everyone a chance to play all three roles, and
  • Discuss how well the tasks were explained in all subteams.

🔹 What you’ll learn : First, you’ll better understand how to explain the tasks you are delegating.

Second, you’ll all be able to learn from each other about the best delegation practices and approaches.

The Mayonnaise Jar Lesson

Mayonnaise jar

🔹 Great for : Teaching the team about the importance of scheduling their priority tasks first.

  • Make sure you’ve got a jar, some golf balls, some pebbles, and sand,
  • Gather your team to see the demonstration (alternatively, you can bring extra jars, pebbles, golf balls, and sand, divide people into teams, and instruct them to perform the task themselves),
  • Then you’ll need to add the pebbles, golf balls, and sand to the jar. The correct order is adding the golf balls first, then the pebbles, then the sand, and
  • In the end, you’ll notice that following this order you’ve made enough room for all items in the jar.
  • However, in case you added sand first, you’ll see that there’s much less room for the other items, and that you won’t be able to fit everything.

🔹 What you’ll learn : The golf balls represent your priority tasks. The pebbles represent your less important tasks. The sand represents everything else.

By adding the golf balls first, you show that working on priority tasks is crucial for you. By adding the pebbles afterward, you show that you also have the tendency to save some time for other important tasks in your life.

Sand represents unimportant tasks that can always wait.

If you fill your days with unimportant tasks, you’ll never have time for what is truly important — just like you’ll never have room for the golf balls and pebbles if you fill the jar with sand.

Estimating time for task completion and organizing your responsibilities is hard for everyone. Luckily, we have a blog on the topic that can truly revolutionize the way you deal with tasks:

  • The pickle jar theory in time management

Desert Island

Desert island

🔹 Great for : Teaching the team how to analyze their priorities.

  • Everyone is given a pen and paper — the task is to imagine being trapped on a desert island,
  • Set a time limit — for example, two minutes,
  • During this time, everyone should write down what they would bring to a desert island,
  • All items deemed as essential by the group will bring them points, and
  • All tasks not deemed as essential by the group will bring the player no points.

🔹 What you’ll learn : Every player will get a chance to learn how to quickly assess their work priorities/essentials.

You’ll learn to be more careful about assigning your time blocks to unessential tasks, just as you should be careful about what you’re bringing to a desert island (if given the option to choose).

The Blind Polygon

The blind polygon

🔹 Great for : Helping improve everyone’s organizational and analytical skills.

  • The players are divided into smaller groups and given a rope,
  • Each group will have a leader and will need to organize the rope into a shape specified by the said group’s leader — but, they’ll need to do so while blindfolded,
  • No one is allowed to take off the blindfold. All the members of the team need to be touching the rope at all times during the task, and
  • Finally, replay the game a couple of times — the groups will have more difficulties in the first round, but they’ll eventually learn to work together, despite the lack of sight and the need for constant coordination.

🔹 What you’ll learn : If you decide to play this time management game, you’ll master:

  • How to better work together,
  • How to analyze tasks from different angles, and
  • How to organize your work in a way that helps you reach desired results — even if you don’t have all the necessary data (i.e. if you are “blindfolded” in some way).

Time Wasters

Time-wasters

🔹 Great for : Learning how best to deal with time wasters .

  • Divide the players into 4 teams,
  • Provide each team with an envelope. Inside the envelope, they’ll find 4 index cards. At the back of the envelope, they’ll find a specific time-waster,
  • Each group needs to write down solutions for the assigned time-wasters on the first index card,
  • The envelopes are then passed on to the other groups — the second group needs to write their solutions to the given time-waster on the second index card, and the other two groups need to write their solutions on their respective index cards, and
  • In the end, you read everyone’s solutions and discuss the best ones.

🔹 What you’ll learn : You’ll be in the position to better understand how you can overcome specific time-wasters, and save more time for priority tasks in the future.

Online time management video games

Apart from the “offline” time management games you can play with colleagues at the office, there are various types of time management games you can play online or download.

You can play them in single-player or multiplayer mode, depending on the game and game type. In this article, we’ll show you the following types:

  • Restaurant time management games,
  • Fantasy and history time management games,
  • Lifestyle time management games,
  • Business time management games,
  • Hotel time management games,
  • Farming time management games,
  • Fashion time management games, and
  • Medical time management games.

Restaurant time management games

You can guess from the heading what restaurant games are all about — your character either works at or owns a restaurant, and the game usually revolves around making and serving food during rush hour.

Here are the most popular restaurant games online:

🔹 Crazy Games rating : ★★★★★★★★ 7.9/10

🔹 Platforms : Web, PC, Mac, Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, iOS, Android, Xbox 360

🔹 Player Mode : Single-player

🔹 Game overview :

This top-selling game may not have started the time management genre, but it remains one of the more popular examples.

In this game, you play Flo, a hard worker who buys an old diner and has to make enough money to fix it up and expand her business.

🔹 Diner Dash Gameplay :

Essentially, you’ll be performing tasks around your restaurant:

  • As customers arrive at the restaurant, you drag and drop them to their tables,
  • You guide Flo to take their orders, put the orders to the “service hatch”, and once the chef is done preparing the meal, you deliver the food to the table,
  • Once the customers are finished eating, you prepare and give them the check, and you have to clear the tables before new customers arrive, and
  • You’ll see that the customers have a series of hearts that show their mood — the longer they wait the more hearts they lose, and when they’re out of hearts, they leave the restaurant and you lose points.

In all tasks, accuracy and speed are key — you earn points for all successful tasks, and if you perform the same set of tasks fast, you get combo bonuses.

You also get color bonuses, if you manage to match customers and seats by color.

If you earn enough money from checks and tips in one level, you progress to the next, and once you progress enough, you’ll be able to open up new restaurants and expand the game setting.

You can choose between two game modes:

  • Career mode — you follow and help Flo’s career, and
  • Endless shift — you must last as long as possible on a single frantic level.

Cake Mania Collection

🔹 Steam rating : ★★★★★★ 6/10

🔹 Platforms : Web, PC, Adobe Flash Player, Nintendo DS, Mobile Phones, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, Wii

🔹 Player mode : Single-player

Cake Mania is a series of games where you guide the baker Jill Evans, as she bakes cakes, runs her own bakery, and deals with tricky customers, business challenges, renovations, and time travel.

🔹 Cake Mania Gameplay :

The gist of the game is to take orders and serve customers:

  • Customers come in, form a line, and place their orders,
  • You direct Jill to make the cakes the customers asked for before the customers grow impatient and leave, and
  • You can use cupcakes and television to entertain customers and stop them from leaving too soon.

The money you earn in the game can be used to buy:

  • A new oven,
  • A better frosting machine,
  • A microwave, or
  • Faster shoes to help Jill keep up with her work.

The default concept is simple, but you can spice it up a little by playing in “Bakers Challenge” mode that allows you to renovate Jill’s kitchen and adjust her business hours.

Overcooked! 2

🔹 Steam rating : ★★★★★★★★★ 9/10

🔹 Platforms : Web, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, Linux, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna

🔹 Player mode : Single-player, Multiplayer

Overcooked! 2 is another great outing in the restaurant time management subgenre, one that enhances the original concept — you and your team of up to 3 additional players have to serve a variety of recipes, such as:

  • Pasta,
  • Cakes,
  • Burgers, and
  • Sushi — to customers in a limited amount of time, all while cooking in unusual kitchen settings and dealing with obstacles.

🔹 Overcooked! 2 Gameplay :

The game essentially follows the usual cooking game principle, but you have to do the cooking in absurd and unexpected kitchens (such as Wizard schools):

  • You’ll need to coordinate orders and streamline teamwork — otherwise, you’ll be bumping into other players and the whole organization will collapse, and
  • Apart from limited time and frantic fellow chefs, you’ll also have to deal with fires, moving floors, portals, and changing settings. One especially memorable level has you preparing salads while flying in a hot air balloon before you conveniently crash in a sushi kitchen.

When compared to the original game, this sequel offers:

  • Additional interactive levels,
  • Restaurant themes,
  • Elaborate chef costumes,
  • More cooking techniques, and
  • More exciting recipes to prepare while the kitchen (usually) crumbles around you.

Burger Shop 2

🔹 Platforms : Web, PC, iOS, Android, Mac

Burger Shop has aliens sending you the blueprint of a machine that creates food from nothing, so you build a successful restaurant. The sequel Burger Shop 2 has you waking up in a dumpster to discover your restaurant chain has been put out of business, and you don’t remember why. But no matter what, it’s time you rebuild your burger kingdom.

🔹 Burger Shop 2 Gameplay :

This is another game that requires fast and innovative thinking, as well as a good organization system. You’ll need to:

  • Cook for and serve your regular clientele in a speedy manner, and
  • Add twists to your menu to attract new customers by upgrading your kitchen to serve pancakes, pasta, steak, cakes, pizzas, and more.

To spice up the usual cook-and-serve-as-fast-as-you-can formula, you’ll also have to look forward to solving the mystery of what happened to your original burger shop.

Delicious: Emily’s new beginning

🔹 Steam rating : ★★★★★★★★ 8/10

🔹 Platforms : Web, PC, Android, iOS

The Delicious series comes from the GameHouse Original Stories and offers a lot of different scenarios where you time manage the titular Emily’s life. This particular installment has you re-open a restaurant business and balance your work life with raising a baby with your husband.

🔹 Delicious: Emily’s New Beginning Gameplay :

With this game, you’ll experience the struggles of balancing work and motherhood — in a gist, you’ll need to:

  • Take the customer’s orders and serve them,
  • Prepare the food by clicking on it in a specific order,
  • Make sure the 4 available types of customers are happy enough to leave a tip,
  • Serve several customers in a row to unlock bonus chains,
  • Keep customers occupied with entertainers,
  • Keep your baby occupied with toys, and “use” her cuteness to appease to certain customers, and
  • Unlock trophies to have someone help check on your baby, and make use of other shortcuts.

For extra flair, you can try to catch Carl the Mouse — he appears in every level, and, if you click on him, you’ll be rewarded with +100 points.

🔹 HONORABLE MENTIONS : Overcooked!, Burger Shop, Mary le Chef, Battle Chef Brigade, Let’s Get Baking

Fantasy and history time management games

The fantasy and history genre is suitable for everyone — children and adults. Playing these games can not only improve your time management, but also strategic thinking, logic, and the aspect of finances, which can heavily reflect on real-life spending.

  • You start with a small village and later upgrade its factories, worker huts, other buildings, and facilities until you make a kingdom, and
  • You research new technologies and go on quests to find new relics and materials that will help you boost production and productivity.

Legends of Atlantis: Exodus

🔹 Player mode : Multiplayer

  • Repair houses, build roads, and save people from drowning all over Atlantis,
  • Gather energy, collect magic crystals, and stack up on resources by chopping down trees and collecting water, and
  • Pursue specific goals within the 5 available episodes and subsequent levels in the game.

If you manage to allocate your resources and time properly, you might actually help the city evacuate before the tidal disaster strikes.

Clash of Clans

🔹 Google Play Rating: ★★★★ 4/5

🔹 Platforms: Android, iOS, iPadOS

🔹 Player mode: Single-player, Multiplayer

🔹 Game overview:

Still leading the market with an incredible number of 1.87 million active users daily, Clash of Clans is an all-time classic. It follows the same premise as most fantasy games:

  • Gather resources,
  • Build your village, and
  • Become stronger with each passing day.

However, the gameplay is the reason most users still play the game even today.

🔹 Clash of Clans gameplay:

As the name suggests, this game is played in clans. In other words, you and your friends can create a virtual group and compete in Clan Wars — an all out war with no mercy.

All players in the clan can participate, and in return, great rewards await the winners. The rewards will further be used to speed up the development of your village.

All upgrades inside your village are reflected in real time. If it takes 3 days to upgrade a defensive building — it will REALLY take 3 days to do so.

Therefore, patience and clever resource distribution is something that separates the good and the bad players in Clash of Clans.

Conclusion: Gaming improves your time management skills and abilities

You’ve certainly heard someone saying “games are for kids” at some point. True — games are for kids, but not exclusively.

No matter whether you pick an online or an “offline” time management game, you’ll also learn something about your time management abilities, and identify your weak areas.

“Offline” time management games you play with colleagues at the office will help you:

  • Recognize your personal ideal time for important work,
  • Understand how your perception of time relates to your project time estimation,
  • Understand whether what you usually do at work leads to your expected performance,
  • Recognize how important it is to properly prioritize, manage time, and organize your work,
  • Identify and deal with your time wasters, and
  • Understand the importance of having goals to lead you in your work.

Also, multiplayer games may indicate how resourceful you are in teamwork, and whether you’re a skilled communicator and collaborator.

Overall, playing time management games from time to time is a welcome practice to help you better understand your work and life habits — just make sure you play the listed video games in moderate doses and don’t exchange your real life for a virtual one.

Hello. I would like to advise all students to use the services of the write my term paper for me service https://domyessay.com/write-my-term-paper . This service offers term paper writing services on any topic. The biggest advantage of the service is its large qualified number of writers who are knowledgeable about all topics. Therefore, you are able to write a high-quality term paper without plagiarism.

Things 3?! Terrific app, but no gamification in it at all. What “rewards”?

Things 3 doesn’t have “colorful charts and visualizations” either. Did you get this mixed up with another app, or was this written by an AI?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Will. Indeed this seems to be an oversight from the writer (probably because I made an UX analysis video of Things3 on Octalysis Prime). I’ve updated the list.

Hope you have an amazing day and God Bless!

Hi! I would recommend Trackabi.com They are using gamification to improve time tracking process. It’s a quite large product and having gamification with all the time tracking related features is great.

Thanks for this recommendation. Started using it, looks promising!

Thanks – I updated the list and added Trackabi!

Hello yukaichou,

Thanks for this very informative article. I recommended dayhaps ( https://dayhaps.com/en/online-calendar/ ) this app is a shared calendar app in which you can schedule & manage your task easily that enhance your productivity.

Hello, nice article. i am missing gamification that allows me to set my own custom rewards + online experience so I can run it from multiple devices at once with one account. Can you recommend such app?

Habitica actually allows for multiple devices (mobile and pc) on one account, and you can add your own rewards if you want, on top of the standard rewards.

Hope this helps!

Do you know of any apps that would allow the teacher to input tasks for their students?

Did you find any app?

You can do this with Habitica if you create a guild for each class to join

ClassCraft is a nice tools for creating tasks for classrooms and encouraging positive behaviors.

Thanks for the list! I’ve tried EpicWin before but found it very linear and so got bored of it quickly. I’ve picked up the Forest App and combined it with Habitica. So now I put all my tasks into Habitica, and when I’m about to do one, I plant a tree with the forest app to keep focused whist doing a task. Now I’ll earn rewards whilst making a forest! Bam Bam!

That’s a great tip! Thanks for sharing Morgan.

Thanks for this article Yukaichou!

I would also recommend NearMinder, which is the only app to send you reminders based on your proximity to your contacts! With this app you can easily set reminders for things you have to do when meeting people and get notified when these people are nearby. It also works for location-based reminders. For nor the gamification is quite low but are are working on new features in our incoming release!

You can try it via this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nearminder.nearminder

Do any of these tools integrate with Jira?

I recommend KnightSpear (www.knightspear.com) It’s a social and gamified task management app that rewards points to team members when they complete their tasks and they are ranked on a leaderboard for every to see.

Checking out SuperBetter now.

Considering Habitica… Don’t want to get overloaded… But wait, maybe Habitica can help with that. Hmmm…

SUperbetter is paid only for actually using it, no thanks, hard pass

10 best life RPG apps for Android: Gamify your life

Habitica best life rpg apps

There are a lot of ways to motivate yourself. You can use something like a to-do list app or a calendar app to stay on schedule. A lot of folks use goals and other motivations. Those aren’t your only options, either. Life RPGs are one of the most unique options in this space. It’s basically a to-do list app, but you earn experience points and level up as you do the things you are supposed to do.

It kind of turns your life into a tabletop game. From there you take your mundane daily tasks like eating, brushing your teeth, exercising, etc, and turn them into quests that you complete every day. It’s a bit silly, but for many it’s effective. Here are the best life RPG apps for Android.

The best real life RPG apps for Android

Epic to-do list, habit hunter, habit streak, kingelf habit rpg, level up life.

Price: Free / $2.49 per month / $18.99 per year / $45.99 once

Do It Now screenshot 2021

Do It Now has a fairly basic UI, but it’s among the most customizable life RPG apps on the list. Your life basically plays out on a Dungeons & Dragons style character sheet. You get points for things like charisma, willpower, and stuff like that. From there, you can set yourself to learn any task and give yourself a specific reward for doing so.

There is also a calendar function, reminders, organizational tools, and fancy stat charts. There is a subscription cost for extras like no ads, more themes, etc or you can pay $45.99 once. That’s really expensive, but at least you can avoid subscriptions and that’s a good thing.

Epic to do list screenshot

Epic to-do list is a simple, but effective life RPG. It functions mostly as a standard to-do list app. You create tasks, add reminders, and you can duplicate repetitive tasks like taking out the garbage. It also adds stuff like game currencies, player attributes, and various unlockable content like weapons and other items. There are also widgets along with some other goodies.

It won’t blow your mind, but it definitely gets you there in terms of functionality. It’s also a cheap, good option for people who like to keep things simple.

Price: Free

EpicWin started life on iOS and the Android port is actually pretty good. It functions as a gamified to-do list so you don’t get the entire life RPG experience but there is enough there to enjoy. The streamlined UI includes a full-featured to-do list with all of the usual features.

Additionally, the game adds animated battles when you complete a task for extra engagement. This one is also entirely free to use with some advertising and that makes it great for life RPG enthusiasts on a budget.

Habatica is one of the most popular life RPG apps for mobile. It works on Android, iOS, and there is also a Chrome extension and a website as well. You can play and continue progress across any platform. This one includes most of the same stuff as the others, but this one also includes group activities.

You can team up with friends and as long as everybody is doing their thing, everybody levels up. Plus, there’s a party chat. The game is rather in-depth and the extra social elements make it easy to invite friends. You can also get discounts on subscriptions if you join as a group.

Price: Free / $1.99

Habit Hunter screenshot 2022

Habit Hunter (formerly Goal Hunter) has a little more RPG than most life RPGs. You get the usual stuff like to-do lists and reminders. However, you also get a full map that you explore as you complete your daily tasks. You also gain XP, defeat monsters, and collect various treasures.

The over-world map mechanic adds a bit more game than most so you feel like you’re actually playing a game instead of using a super fun RPG-style to-do list. Plus, this one is cheap. The only downside is the simplicity, but it’s a newer app so give it time to grow and it should round out nicely.

Price: Free / $2.49

Habit Streak is a life gamification app, but it doesn’t have the same tone or experience as most others. You still put in tasks, add in repeated tasks, and try to do all of them every day. The big difference is the execution. This app puts all of your achievements into a streak and the goal is to continue the streak every day.

It’s a much simpler premise than most other life RPG apps and it’s a neat way to go if you want to avoid the fantasy RPG elements in other apps. The free version seems to have a few issues according to reviewers, but the pro version fares much better. Try the free version first to make sure you like it.

Price: Free / Up to $2.99

Kingelf Habit RPG screenshot

Kingelf Habit RPG is another newer life RPG app with some neat extra features. This one has the usual task management stuff, but adds in a drag-and-drop mechanic to put stuff in the proper order. Additionally, the game adds two mini-games, task completion tracking, and a way to earn gems.

Gems are useful for summoning heroes to help in mini-games and you can use them to unlock the premium version of the app over a period of time. It’s still new and the ads are a little annoying, but it’s also still coming together as a newer app.

level up life best life rpgs

Level Up Life is another excellent life RPG with an old, text-style, retro game look. It works and plays like most others in the genre at its core. Players put in real tasks, complete them, and then earn achievements as they play. Each level up unlocks increasingly difficult achievements to help you form better habits.

You can cheat the system and get all of the achievements whenever you want, but if that’s what you set out to do, maybe this one isn’t the best idea for you. The game also has a social media-style friend system so you can compete and compare with other players.

Price: Free / Up to $1.99

LifeRPG screenshot

LifeRPG is another one of the more popular life RPG apps. It also works more or less the same as most of the others. You create tasks, level up, earn stuff, and perform daily duties as quests in the game. You can also add skills and organize your missions by a variety of priorities, including your energy level. What separates this one from the pack is its customization level and completeness.

You can do basically whatever you want and view your stats as you do. However, it does take a bit of the fantasy elements out so you’re not collecting weapons or earning loot, just experience points. It’s among the best options for fans of minimalism.

Price: $0.99

LifeUp is something a little bit different. Most of the apps on this list have fantasy elements. Fantasy elements are fun, but they can turn away people who want to play such a game but don’t want the whole Dungeons & Dragons vibe. LifeUp is for those people. You do tasks, level up, and get your habits in order. The app features the usual stuff like reminders, repeat tasks, and a task completion history. However, it wraps up everything in a simple Material Design UI that looks like a normal app.

You can use your XP to gain strength in the app and doing tasks also earns you collectibles for your shelves. Finally, there is a community element as well. The app runs for $0.99 upfront or you can get it for free via Google Play Pass.

35 Fun Challenges to Do With Friends

These games will definitely get the party started.

35 challenges to do with friends games to play with friends

Seventeen picks products that we think you'll love the most. We may earn commission from the links on this page.

Whether you’re hoping to show off your skills ( Chopped challenge, anyone?) or looking to try the latest and greatest viral TikTok trends, things will certainly get interesting with any one of the boredom-busting options below — but don’t forget the prizes if you want to see your friends really get into it. No worries if your fave people live far, either. Give these games a shot on FaceTime, or try them out at the next graduation or birthday party. Add a little excitement to your day — without breaking the bank — with this list of fun challenges to do with your friends .

20 Questions Challenge

Chances are you've probably already heard of this game. The goal here is to stump your friends. To play the game, one person is chosen as the answerer. The answerer has to pick something, usually an object, but they cannot reveal to the others what they've chosen. Now, your friends can ask up to 20 questions altogether to figure out what it is you've chosen. The catch is they can only ask yes or no questions.

Egg Drop Challenge

You'll be flexing your creative skills for this challenge. To play it, you'll need to get together a bunch of materials like newspapers, popsicle sticks, glue, or any other craft supplies you have on hand. If you're together, split your friends into groups, but if this is over video chat, everyone will have to work solo. Then, build something that will prevent an egg from breaking after it's thrown from a high height. Show off your creations and make sure to videotape while testing them out. The team or person that can keep their egg intact wins.

Impression Challenge

This challenge involves getting your friends to guess correctly. Write the name of several famous personalities onto a post-it and throw them in a hat. When it's your turn, you will prepare an impression of the person you've chosen. To win, your friends must be able to guess who you are.

The Final Dab Challenge

Wing night at home? Might as well try out the Final Dab from Hot Ones. You've seen your fave celebs trying it and now it's your turn to see if you can survive the final dab. To make it harder, have someone fake interview you so you have to answer questions while eating it. If Shawn Mendes can do it , so can you.

Chubby Bunny Challenge

An old-fashioned favorite you've probably played a dozen times during camp. You'll need a TON of marshmallows for this one. You and your friends try to find out who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouths. The one with the most wins!

Jet-Puffed Marshmallows

Jet-Puffed Marshmallows

No Mirror Makeup Challenge

Let's be honest here, a mirror is your best friend when you're trying to put your makeup on. But, for this challenge, you won't be able to use a mirror to make sure you did everything correctly. When everyone is done, vote on who did the best look sans mirror. You'll find out who the true makeup artists are in your friend group and who still has a little bit of learning to do.

Lemon Challenge

Lemons are great on food, but have you ever had tried one by itself? Well, it's time to put your taste buds to the test. Cut lemons into different wedges and see who can eat the most without giving up. Trust us, you'll want to quit after a few.

Try Not to Laugh Challenge

Gather around the living room and play your favorite funny YouTube videos. If someone starts to laugh, they get a point against them. Keep track throughout the night and the person with the least points is the winner.

100 Layer Challenge

This challenge is so easy to replicate and can be done with almost anything you have around in the house. Try to apply 100 layers of something you have lying around in the house (nail polish, t-shirts, lipstick, etc). See who can finish it the fastest and notice the hilarious results that come out of it.

Bubblegum Challenge

We've all added a second stick of gum when the first one starts to lose its flavor after a while. It's time to take it to another level and see how many sticks of gum you can chew at one time. Some people can fit an entire box so this will be a fun little challenge that will certainly lead to tons of bubble-making by the end.

Bubble Yum Original Flavor Chewy

Blindfolded Drawing Challenge

Unless you're the artist of your group, drawing can already be tough. Trying to draw without even seeing what is already on the paper is even harder. Make a friend put on a blindfold and give them something to draw (a tree, house, your friend, etc) and see the hilarious results.

Riff Off Challenge

Based on the legendary scene from Pitch Perfect , gather your friends and have your own Riff Off. The rules are the same as the movie: pick a category, sing a song that fits it, and the next person/team must start their song with the same word that the last person/team sang. If no one can join in after a minute, the current singer is the winner.

Whisper Challenge

Get ready to break out your loudest headphones for this one. One of your friends wears the headphones while another friend tries to whisper them song lyrics that they can't hear. See how long it takes them to get it right or time them and see which team can get the most points by the end of the round.

Popsicle Stick and Cup Tower Challenge

Using only popsicle sticks and plastic cups, see which person/team can build the highest tower. There are different ways to complete this and there will certainly be some interesting strategies thought up during this challenge.

Try Not to Sing Challenge

Create a new Spotify playlist and have everyone add their favorite sing-along songs. Gather around and listen to snippets of each song while trying not to join in along. Trust us, it's much harder than it sounds.

The Alphabet Challenge

Pick a topic and then starting with the letter A, you must figure out a word that fits the category that also starts with the letter. Go down the alphabet and see how far you can go. The person who messes up is out and the challenge restarts with a new topic until there is only one left.

Eat It or Wear It Challenge

This challenge is bound to get messy, so wear something that you don't mind getting dirty. To play, you'll need an assortment of foods, and each item will go into a separate numbered bag. When it's your turn, you will choose a number from a bowl and grab the bag of food assigned to that number. Now, you have to choose between eating a spoonful of that food or wearing it, as in wiping it all over your shirt or face. To make this game really hilarious, remember to add in a few foods that you think people won't like.

Mannequin Challenge

The mannequin challenge was so big around 2016, but that doesn't mean you can't revive it in 2o23. You know how this goes. Ask your friends to freeze like mannequins as you take a video of the room. Try not to flinch.

Ice Bucket Challenge

It was a big hit a few years ago, but that doesn't mean you can't still do it now. All you need is a large bucket of water with some ice inside and some willing participants. Then, get ready to hear some screams as the ice water hits them. Even better, have them donate to the ALS Association , in honor of the original challenge.

Blindfolded Makeup Challenge

Want some big laughs? Get some makeup and blindfolds and try to give each other makeovers without being able to see a thing you're doing. The one with the best look wins!

What's in the Box Challenge

Grab a bunch of objects around the house and put them in a box one by one. Have a person who has no idea what's in the box stick their hand in there and figure out what they're touching. Some of them might get freaked out over some objects while others will be completely wrong with their guesses in this hilarious game.

Guess the Oreo Challenge

Oreos come in a lot of different flavors and you'll need all the ones you can get for this challenge. Blindfold each person and see if they can guess which secret flavor of Oreo they got. The person who can guess most of them correctly wins!

The $10 Challenge

Want to spend some time outside of the house? Try the $10 Challenge and head to one of your favorite stores like Target or Walmart. Everyone has a $10 limit to buy something to use for the night. The person who finds the best item wins, plus, you'll likely get a new game or a fun snack along the way.

Blindfolded Hairstyle Challenge

Can you style your friend's hair without seeing how it's coming out? Well, now is the time to find out. Blindfold your friends and see who can create the best braid or any other hairstyle without letting them see it. (PS: Don't use hot tools for this. You definitely want to see what you're doing when using those.)

Guess the Lyric Challenge

Write down the first verse to your favorite song on a piece of paper and put them in a bucket. Each person will draw a paper and try to guess the lyrics that are supposed to come next. Check out our fave celebs do it. You can even use special themes to make the game even more fun:

preview for Lauren Jauregui | Lyric Challenge

Tin Can Challenge

Take cans of food from the kitchen and rip off all the labels. Mix the cans up so that way you don't remember which can is which. Open them up, grab some forks, and try to guess what each item is. You might get some interesting answers for some of them.

BeanBoozled Jelly Beans Challenge

You probably recognize this from Harry Potter as Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, but you can also try it as BeanBoozled Jelly Beans challenge. Spin the wheel and then pick up the jelly bean that matches the same color. Will you get a sweet flavor like coconut or a stinky one like a rotten egg?

Jelly Belly Bean Boozled Spinner Game

Bean Boozled Spinner Game

Egg Roulette Challenge

Your fave celebs have played this for years and now it's time for you to step up to the plate and try it out. Grab a carton of eggs and hard-boil most of them, leaving a couple raw. Put them back in the carton (mix them up so you don't know which one is which or have another person do it). One by one, grab an egg and smash it on your head. Play until there aren't any hard-boiled eggs left and see who is the lucky person who survived the whole game without cracking a real egg on their head.

Q-Tip Dart Challenge

Grab your friends and try to see how good your aim is with just q-tips and a straw. Draw targets on a plain t-shirt and dip the Q-Tips in food coloring. One person wears the shirt with the other puts a Q-Tip in the straw one by one and blows it out onto their target. See who make get the most points by the end. (Note: Wear goggles so you don't accidentally get hit in the eye with a Q-Tip.)

One Chip Challenge

Not a fan of the cold? Then get ready to try something HOT. The One Chip Challenge was a big deal in 2017 and this might be one of your last chances to do it before it's gone forever. The challenge requires the person to eat an entire Paqui tortilla chip made out of the Carolina Reaper pepper, the hottest pepper on earth. While you can't get the chip on Paqui's page anymore, you can still try to get one on eBay , if you're up for it.

Brain Freeze Challenge

One of the best challenges for summertime, or the cruelest for winter. Stick your friends' feet into a bucket of ice-cold water, and start asking questions. These could be general knowledge questions or more personal questions — you can choose. The longer they take to answer, the more ice cubes you toss into the bucket. If they answer incorrectly, add more cubes. Whoever answers the most the quickest, wins!

Pass the Ball Challenge

Everyone sits in a circle and passes a ball around while music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the balloon is out and must do whatever the rest of the group dares them to do. (Check out our list of hilariously silly dares here for inspo.) The winner is the last individual remaining.

Chopped Cooking Challenge

Get your cooking creativity juices flowing with this fun at-home challenge inspired by the Food Network series Chopped . In the series, chefs receive a basket of random ingredients and must use their expertise to combine them all and create a yummy dish. So, head to your pantry or the grocery store and select your own group of foods for your own challenge! Organize teams of 2-3 people or compete individually, then get cooking. Just make sure you have a judge — or a panel of a few — to decide who is the champion chef.

Three-Minute Makeup Challenge

This is one of many beauty challenges to go viral on TikTok, achieved by makeup gurus such as Mikayla Nogueira , Mirta Miler , and of course, Seventeen (see below!). Try to do your entire makeup routine in three minutes or less, no exception. See who among you and your besties is the fastest at perfecting their look in an absolute time crunch — you might even pick up some tips and tricks from each other along the way.

Fruit Roll-Up Challenge

Challenging yet absolutely delicious. Everyone uncoils a Fruit Roll-Up and tries to eat it as fast as they can — but there's a catch, of course. You cannot use your hands and must keep them clasped behind your back or down at your sides. Whoever finishes first, wins! But hey, at least everyone gets to eat a Fruit Roll-Up.

13 Best Time Management Games & Activities To Boost Productivity

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

It’s no secret that effective time organization is a vital skill for employees and employers alike. But that’s not always enough. That’s why using a time tracker and learning time management skills should be a priority for your business. One powerful and fascinating way of learning helpful time management techniques , without additional stress, is through time management games.

What Are Time Management Games?

If you notice the first signs of poor time management in your company – missed deadlines , lateness to meetings , poor performance – it’s time to take action! But, having your employees sit through another lecture on the ‘importance of timekeeping’ might not be the best idea.

Instead, why not switch up the game a little and turn learning discipline into fun time management activities? But before that, here are some basic tips:

  • Make time tracking easy . The system should be easy enough for the average employee who has to fill the thing in every day.
  • Everyone should be tracking hours .
  • Do not force billing 8 hours a day . If you want a real picture of efficiency, make sure you create an environment where people are free to report honestly.
  • Fill in hours regularly .
  • Discuss the results, and give feedback .
  • Track everything, not only project hours .
Completing timesheets takes involvement from the entire team. It is a journey, not a destination.

Everhour is the top choice for small businesses and small to mid-size teams of 5 to 50 members, including professionals like software developers, marketers, designers, consultants, lawyers, you name it!

Seamlessly integrating with popular project management tools like Asana, Trello, and Jira, its user-friendly interface and customizable reports make it the ultimate time tracking solution for small and mid-size teams.

With dedicated support ensuring you receive timely assistance, our team is here to help you promptly and with a smile!

So, what are the best time management activities? Here are some examples:

  • Offline games (Time Squared, solving jigsaw puzzles, The Big Picture Challenge, time jar)
  • Online games (Overcooked, using Pomodoro timer, etc)

Benefits of Time Management Games

Self-education to improve time management skills after a hectic and task-packed day can help your employees learn useful new skills. And these time management games can be a perfect solution to unwind.

Did you know that time management games are an excellent tool for training the sensory nervous system, improving concentration, and critical thinking?

You can use them as:

  • Team-building exercises
  • Warm-up activities
  • Ice-breakers
  • Or, simply, as part of training

A range of time management games and techniques are freely available on the internet. They can be online and offline, group, or individual.

But to help you sort the wheat from the chaff and know which games genuinely work, we’ve gathered the best time management games and activities for you and your staff.

Why Do Games Work?

‘Gamification’ isn’t just a recent trend; it’s an innovative way of learning that has caught teachers’ and students’ attention.

Using interactive and fun ways of learning has numerous benefits. But these are our top favorites:

  • Improves problem-solving skills – Taking on new challenges at a different level helps your brain grow and develop, allowing you to get more for your experiences.
  • Relieves stress – Let’s face it, no matter how fantastic work is, it also involves a level of stress. While stress is an excellent motivator at times, knowing how to manage it is key to long-term success.
  • Builds teamwork skills – Get to know your team better and have some fun. This creates better working relationships allowing your team to be more productive.
  • Playing games is fun – All work and no play makes Jack a dull (and unproductive) boy. 65% of Americans play video games, so why not use this popularity and give it purpose.
  • Improves learning retention – By actively engaging your employees in your time management games, you’re enhancing their capabilities for learning retention. Studies show active participation in learning improves how much information and skill a person retains from the training.

Offline Time Management Games

Traditional offline time management games are best played in an office environment. They are designed for individual and team play and involve lots of human interaction – the more people, the more fun.

These games are great for understanding how to boost daily productivity and make better use of working time. And if you are looking for some extra tips on how to make yourself highly productive, follow the link .

The Big Picture Challenge

Teach your team to look beyond the immediate horizon in their work and plan for the future with the “Big Picture Challenge.” Inspired by Orangeworks .

  • Divide your co-workers into small groups, each responsible for painting a small segment of The Big Picture
  • With no idea what the final image will be, teams must work together to ensure that all lines meet and colors match up.
  • The painted image can be a representation of a company’s brand, conference theme, values, goals, or even a recreation of a famous work of art.
  • Upon completion, the final masterpiece is unveiled for the first time to the inevitable sound of thundering applause and enthusiastic cheers.
  • The completed work can be proudly displayed in the office as a constant reminder of what can be achieved through teamwork.

Teams must adopt a ‘big picture’ approach to ensure that the final result is a success. This creative team bonding exercise requires effective color coordination and collaborative teamwork is required for each canvas to fit perfectly.

And BTW, here is the best software tools to help your colleagues plan effectively.

Circadian Rhythm

Teach your team to synchronize their work with their body clock with the “Circadian Rhythm” game.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

  • Ask each player to jot down their daily routine in hours. Starting from waking up to going to bed
  • Each participant should label each block with the following features: ‘on fire,’ ‘vibrant,’ ‘cruise control,’ ‘at 70%’, ‘distracted,’ ‘slowing down,’ ‘tired,’ ‘hungry’ indicating how they felt during the activity they were doing.
  • Ask the participants to connect their hourly blocks to time management at the workplace and discuss the following points.

Points to discuss:

  • What is the most active part of your day ‘on fire’ ?
  • What is the most ‘distracted’ part of the day?
  • During which part of the day is it better to complete the hardest/most manageable tasks?
  • When is it best to take a break?
  • Who has similar working/ relaxing rhythms in your team?

If the participants share their rhythms with each other, they could build an efficient working schedule for the whole team. It’s also an excellent opportunity to get to know teammates better and boost communication skills at the same time.

Another effective way for your colleagues to control their working time and breaks is to use the Pomodoro technique . It’ll help avoid overburdening and quick-burning out with time work periods and relaxation intervals.

Time Squared

Show your colleagues how they allocate their time throughout the day by playing the “Time Squared” game.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

  • Print 3 pages with 24 squares that represent the 24 hours of a day.
  • Share the 1st page with the participants
  • Explain that each square represents one hour of a day
  • Ask them to fill out the squares with their routine activities. E.g. eating 4 hours = 4 squares, sleeping 7 hours = 7 squares, etc.
  • Share the 2nd page with the participants
  • Ask them to fill out the squares on the second page with the non-working time they spend at their workplace. E.g., coffee breaks, talk shops, calls to mom, checking social networks, etc.
  • Share the 3rd page with the participants
  • Ask them to summarize the data from the 1st and 2nd pages on the 3rd page. Use different colors to tell them apart. e.g., green for the 1st page, blue for the 2nd, red for the 3rd.
  • Explain to your colleagues that the uncolored squares = ‘ productive time .’

The task can be done throughout the day, so that your co-workers have more precise results on their papers, allowing them to evaluate time efficiently.

  • How could you re-evaluate your time?
  • Would you change anything in your statistics?
  • Are there any steps you could take to increase your productive time?
  • How would you rearrange your time to have some extra time for rest?

This game is a convenient way to actually see on paper how time is spent throughout the day. Afterward, ask your colleagues to find new ways to improve their time management. One great place to start is with some time management literature .

Delegation Skill Practice

Teach your colleagues to delegate tasks effectively with the “Delegation Skill Practice” exercise.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

  • Ask your colleagues to think of the most unpleasant task that they have to do in their work. Tell them that today they’ll have the chance to delegate it to someone else
  • Ask them to think about how they would explain their unpleasant tasks to their personal assistants , how they would check that the task is done, and how they would encourage their personal assistants to complete the task
  • Divide your colleagues into teams of 3: delegator, employee, observer
  • Share the delegation observer sheet with delegators to help check how well the delegator explains the task
  • Share notes sheet with employees to make notes while the delegator explains the task
  • After the delegator explains the task, the employee jots the task down, and the observer checks the points in the delegation observer sheet. Allow some time for the team to discuss the results
  • Change the roles in teams and repeat the task. The game has 3 rounds so that every participant tries every role
  • Discuss the activity with your team.
  • Which task is the most unpleasant in the team? What was the most challenging/easiest part of the task?
  • Who is the best delegator on the team?
  • Who is the ‘best employee’ in the team?
  • Which part of the game was the most difficult?
  • Which role was the most difficult?
  • What could you do to improve the delegators/employees’ performance for each participant?

Knowing how to delegate tasks is an essential skill for any manager. It optimizes time spent and helps ensure the best person for the job is assigned to it, whenever possible.

To help better manage your team, and allocate time more efficiently, check out the techniques and strategies we’ve come up with here .

What I Did Yesterday

Teach your team how to find patterns in everyday working activities with the “What I did yesterday” game.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

  • Ask participants to note down 10 things they did at work yesterday on one piece of paper
  • On the second piece of paper ask the participants to note down 5 things they expect to discuss at their next performance review
  • Now, have them look at the two lists together and mark in some way on the first list all the things which have a direct link to the second list.

The ‘light bulb’ moment is the recognition that we spend time on things that have little or no consequence on our performance. Using this activity, participants can adjust the expectations of their daily schedule and become more efficient. This will help them accept an appropriate amount of work, prioritize and be able to give a clearer deadline. Leading to a more prosperous, efficient company.

The Mayo Jar Lesson

The mayo jar activity demonstrates the importance of doing the most important tasks first.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

As the story goes a professor stands before his philosophy class with an empty jar, fills it to the top with golf balls, and asks if it’s full. The group says “yes.” Yet he still manages to fill the jar with more stuff — first pebbles, then sand, even a beer or two!

It’s a powerful lesson. Depending on which objects you put in first determines how many other items you can put in afterward. If you put sand in first, nothing else will fit (except some water), but if you start with the big rocks (our most important tasks) and go down, you can fit some of everything in.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

This jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your work – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter – your house, your car. The sand is everything else, the small stuff.

How will you manage your time jar?

If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. There will always be time to clean the house, throw a dinner party, or fix the disposal.

Emphasize the importance of time and you are in control of how you spend it. Time is about making the right choices.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course?

The Bank of TIME

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it is written off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest. It carries over no balance from the day before. It allows no overdrafts. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns what remains of the day.

Ribbon of Life

For this time management exercise, you need a ribbon with a length of 100cm (1 meter) and a pair of scissors.

13 best time management games & activities to boost productivity

Ask your team: What is the estimated lifespan of an individual?

The normal response will be between 75 and 85 years. Let’s say it’s 79. So you need to cut 21cm off your ribbon. It is now 79cm long, meaning we have 79 years left .

What is the average age of the participants?

This depends on the group you’re doing this exercise with. But let’s say the number you get is 29, so you chop another 29cm of your ribbon. These years are what you would call “sunk costs”, you can’t do anything about them. The ribbon now has 50cm .

So we have 50 years left? The actual answer is no.

You still need to factor in a lot of variables: weekends, public holidays, casual/sick leave, and annual holidays. Every year has 52 weeks, so that’s 52 Sundays per year. Multiply that by 50 years (the current length of our ribbon) and you get 7.14. Reduce the ribbon by 7cm. The same logic applies to Saturdays. Reduce another 7cm. The ribbon now has 36cm .

36 cm minus holidays and leave

There are 10 Public/National holidays per year, which gives us 1.5 years when multiplied by 50. Reduce the ribbon by 1.5 cm. Plus we spend approximately 40 days a year on casual leave, sick leave, and annual holidays. That’s around 5 years, so you cut off another 5 cm. The ribbon now has 29.5cm .

29 cm and counting…

But we still need to take into account sleeping, eating, and commuting. We spend a third of our day (and so a third of our year) sleeping. Considering an average of 8 hours of sleep per day, we get 122 * 50 = almost 17 years. Cut off another 17 cm. The ribbon now has 12.5 cm .

You need around 2 hours per day to eat lunch, breakfast, snacks, and dinner. 30 days a year X 50 years= 4 years or so. Cut off another 4 cm. The ribbon now has 8.5cm .

Lastly, let’s factor in commuting and time spent traveling from one place to another for activities. If we average one hour a day, that’s 2 more years. The ribbon now has 6.5cm .

In fact, when all is said and done, there are ONLY 6 years of life to make it or break it!

4. Bounty Tasker

Bounty Tasker is a to-do list with a twist! Instead of just checking off items on your list, you get to make every article into an objective, and every objective completed gives you experience. Using this XP, you can outfit your character with better “loot”, level up, get skills and take on more powerful monsters.

  • RPG-like elements combined with a reward system for completing tasks incentivize task completion.
  • Visual changes to your character as you progress further
  • A core gameplay element that does not detract from your tasks but blends well with them

Overall, this is a great app, especially for RPG and CRPG players, as they’ll be able to easily recognize the distinct patterns and game mechanics that appear in those game types. Once the players make this connection, they’ll be extra motivated to complete their tasks.

5. Beeminder

6. SmartyPig

Finances can be fun too with SmartyPig . Granted, you don’t often associate the word “fun” with “finances”, but with SmartyPig’s excellent gamification system, you’ll soon find out that hitting goals can reward you with more than just money.

SmartyPig is a “digital piggy bank” at its core. Basically, you set up an account and then set up an automatic transfer of funds from your account to SmartyPig. Once you hit your goal, the app alerts you and prompts you to buy the thing you've been saving up for.

  • Progress visualization in the shape of a progress bar
  • Ability to share your success stories on social media
  • Competitive interest rates on your SmartyPig savings

Overall, SmartyPig is just about perfect for people that aren’t too good with money. It makes them spend less, save up more, and, in the end, rewards their patience with something tangible and real-world than just in-game experience and monster slaying.

7. Challenge Timer

Some people work well with positive reinforcement; some like to feel the crunch. Challenge Timer is a Pomodoro model gamified app that appeals to the latter.

One of the focus features of this product is the timer that does not stop. In most Pomodoro model apps, the timer can be stopped and the task postponed, but, in Challenge Timer, you have to forfeit the task (by pressing the Forfeit Work Session button), essentially instilling the feeling of having been defeated.

Now, this might not be a good fit for people that don’t like feeling pressured, but for those that operate well under stressful conditions and those that can’t be swayed otherwise to fulfill their obligations, this is the right choice.

  • The timer runs non-stop and cannot be paused
  • To stop the timer, one must forfeit the session, essentially admitting defeat, and most people don’t like feeling defeated

In the end, Challenger Timer is great for time-crunchers, but it does come with the risk of its own version of burnout, so handle it with care.

When used effectively, gamification can be powerful for improving user experience and motivating users to achieve their goals. However, it is important to use gamification elements judiciously and avoid overloading users with too much information or too many tasks.

Gamification should be used as a supplement, not a replacement for traditional methods of engagement and motivation.

Gamification in Task Management: How It's Changing The Way We Work?

Experience a paradigm shift in task management with the

3 benefits of task gamification

  • Boost engagement

When you have repetitive or complex tasks, getting them off your to-do list can feel like an exhausting chore. The barrier to entry rises when you’re dreading the start of a task. The question is: how do you keep yourself engaged enough to accomplish your task list?

Gamification turns these pesky tasks into rewarding challenges. The reward helps as a motivator, keeping you more engaged and focused. So, you both finish your tasks and get a little reward at the end—it’s a win-win.

  • Helps relieve stress

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you start your day with a massive task list before you. You might not know where to start or how to prioritize the work , which increases your stress levels. Counter the stress with a game.

Think of how it feels to play a board game with loved ones. There’s a little competition. At the same time, you’re having fun. When you approach tasks like it’s a board game, you’ll win the day by completing your task list. Your brain gets a kick of dopamine , which helps relieve stress resulting in greater focus and engagement.

  • Increase productivity and focus

At the core of gamification is a goal to be more productive and focused. It encourages you to work through the tasks you may procrastinate and helps you find creative solutions to how you work. The result is more efficient working practices. This can lead to a better work-life balance and more sustained productivity in the long term.

Gamified tasks foster a spirit of achievement as you work through everyday tasks. It fuels the reward center of your brain, which can inspire creativity and engagement. Staying focused helps you work more efficiently. As a result, you move forward to the next “level,” having checked off tasks.

4 tips for how to gamify work tasks

  • Turn large projects into a leveled game

You might've heard of this strategy before—when you have a large and complex project, break it down into smaller tasks to make it more manageable. Now, to gamify your large project, look at each of these tasks as a “level” of the game. If you’re a fan of strategic video or board games, this approach might be particularly fun. You can use it in tandem with another gamification strategy to make it even more exciting.

Set benchmarks throughout the project that represent different levels of a game. If you want to add another gaming element, consider giving yourself a reward once you’ve completed a level. When you get a motivator at the end of each “level,” you can enjoy working through your task list little bits at a time.

  • Build a personalized points or reward system

This strategy is effective on its own or with other ones. There are a couple of different approaches you can take. They both accomplish the same thing, albeit through slightly different routes. You might find that one is more enticing or fun than the other. Feel free to lean into one or mix it up.

First, let’s look at building a reward system for yourself. Say you have to respond to 10 emails. Some need more attention than others, but they all need replies. So, here’s what you do: sit down to reply to these emails with a goal. Your reward could be playing with your dog or going for a walk. After you’ve responded to each message, you get the reward.

Alternatively, you can consider a points system to earn your reward. This system works by attaching a reward to achieving a certain number of points. You can collect points on a per-day, per-week, or even per-month basis. Once you hit 150 points, for instance,  you can scroll on social media for 30 minutes. If you get 200 points, maybe you get to watch an episode of your favorite TV show. Perhaps your goal is to beat the number of points you scored the day before.

For example, you’ve built a points system that awards you 50 points for replying to the day’s emails and 75 points for completing a portion of a large project. If you complete these tasks, you have 125 points for the day to put toward your rewards.

A strategy like the points system works better for long-term goals. You can gather points as you work toward your quarterly goals and then “spend” the points at the end of that time period. A simple reward system is ideal for daily or weekly goals. Still, you can revise your gamification strategy however works best for you.

  • Lean on time tracking and race yourself

How long did it take you to do something? Do you think you could do it a little faster tomorrow? Want to challenge yourself to find out?

Time tracking is an age-old strategy for boosting productivity. The first step is to get your task list organized. It’s also wise to list your tasks based on priority, so there’s no time wasted wondering what you should work on next.

Now set a timer to see how quickly you can work through a set of tasks. This is a working sprint where you’re hyper-focused on getting as much work done as possible. At the end of your sprint, take a break. Make a note of the time stamp and do it again. Document your findings so you can see how you’re becoming more efficient at doing those tasks over time.

The Pomodoro Technique uses a version of this method. You know exactly how much time you need to focus before getting a break or reward. It can help you stay focused on the task at hand when you know a break is approaching.

  • Challenge the whole team

A great way to help you stay motivated and focused is by spreading the gamification methodology across your whole organization. Racing yourself and each other can be a fun way to keep everyone engaged. You can employ the reward system to get everyone excited. Try setting a time limit like one month or quarter then seeing how everyone performed during that period of time. The trick is working as efficiently as possible while still doing quality work. Have fun with it, but don’t sacrifice quality for quantity.

Besides getting drunk or hunting vultures, players will also be challenged to take part in numerous Free Roam Events that see's them competing against other players.

7 Destiny 2

destiny 2 lightfall squad

Another brilliant multiplayer experience that pulls players into completing things each day is the first-person shooter Destiny 2 . Similar to Red Dead Online , players are able to complete various daily tasks which reset each day to give them new ones alongside tasks that can also be done weekly. These can do be done multiple times if players have more than one character .

There is always something for a player to do that best fits their style of playing. Players can choose to focus on completing tasks that take part in the PVE of the game such as bounties on various planets or PVP bounties such as testing their luck in the Crucible.

6 Tomodachi Life

A rap battle in Tomodachi Life

Taking a break from the multiplayer titles quickly, even single player games like the well-loved Tomodachi Life on the 3DS always had players coming back each day to see what their island of Miis had been up to. In this social simulation game players were able to create friends, family, and even some of their own original characters to live in a hotel on an island run by themselves.

Related: Daily Tasks You Should Do In Final Fantasy 14

Each day opened up the game to new scenarios such as Miis falling in love or demanding things from their onlooking benefactor known as the player. The longer players invested in the game the more bonds they saw form as well as getting to know their Miis themselves.

5 World Of Warcraft

wow df orcs and humans

Another brilliantly addictive massive multiplayer title that has things for players to enjoy each day is World of Warcraft . If the player is alone or has a group to complete them with, there is always the daily task for players to complete.

Not to mention that veterans of the RPG have also came up with their own daily routines that they tend to fulfill when they have a couple of hours to play with. Be this quickly finishing a dungeon or focusing on certain tasks, there is always something to do and new tasks being added to World of Warcraft .

4 Final Fantasy 14

Final Fantasy 14 Mini Cactpot

Final Fantasy 14 is another MMO that tasks the player with objectives to complete each day. This is similar to World of Warcraft however there is so much more to do than just the regular roulette of dungeons and raids to cover.

There are also various mini-games for players to enjoy such as the well sought out Mini Cactpot. This scratchcard can be done three times a day and has the chance to reward the players with a fair amount of MGP. While this may be the simplest way of earning such currency there are also more interactive mini-games to take part in also.

3 Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Growing pumpkins and watering them in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Once again MMOs aren't the only games that will have players glued to them none stop each day as the successful Animal Crossing franchise. It has continued to grow its audience through encouraging players to take time out of their day to check in on their villagers.

Related: Games to Play If You Like Animal Crossing: New Horizons

By using the real time, players can check in on their villagers throughout the day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to see if they need any help as well as catch the insects or fish that appear at certain times of the day. Not only this but Animal Crossing also pays attention to the seasons and therefore there are also different holidays that somewhat match up to real-life events.

2 Genshin Impact

Daily Commission in Genshin Impact

While Genshin Impact has changed over the years one thing that has remained the same are the daily tasks players should be completing each day while exploring the world of Teyvat. When logging in each day players should first spend some time completing the daily commissions to get a fair amount of primogems as well as twenty more if the player completes all of them.

Apart from this, players may also wish to farm for resources as well as remembering to check their expeditions in case any had completed while they were away.

1 Cozy Grove

Cozy Grove bird decor

By far one of the best games players should try if looking for a title they can enjoy each day with countless things to do then Cozy Grove is exactly what they are looking for. Similar to Animal Crossing: New Horizons , Cozy Grove uses real time to pace its game.

However, Cozy Grove itself has an incredibly in-depth and interesting story for players to uncover, as they help ghost bears find their memories in a hope of helping them pass on to the other side. This is all wrapped into the usual life simulation mechanics such as collecting resources and fishing.

The best PC games to play while you pretend you're being productive working from home

We all need a little distraction now and again.

doing tasks game

If you're working from home due to the global coronavirus pandemic, you're likely facing some new challenges, such as figuring out which games to play while pretending to work from home. That's a tough decision, but we've got your back.

Even without anyone looking over your shoulder, juggling gaming and work is a fine art. While you might be tempted to log into Destiny 2, the reality is games like that tend to be too involved—you have to focus 100 percent, and God help you if your boss suddenly calls wanting a status update. That's why I've rounded up some great games that you can play on your terms and that don't require too much focus or input to enjoy. These games are also especially good if you're being forced to use software like Zoom to telecommute to work because they're chill enough no one will realize that instead of staring at an Excel spreadsheet, you're actually conquering ancient China. (Just don't let Zoom narc on you .)

Total War: Three Kingdoms

Any turn-based strategy game is a great choice if you want something to play while juggling other tasks, but Creative Assembly's latest is easily the best in the series thanks to a refined diplomacy system that gives China's Three Kingdoms-era warlords much more personality than I've seen in similar grand strategy games. Each faction is well-realized and evocative of their warlord's real-world history, like Yuan Shu's fervent need to form alliances or Tao Qian's resolute faith in a crumbling bureaucracy. While I love the massive scale of Total War: Warhammer 2's grand campaign, Three Kingdoms' personality puts it ahead because it breathes so much character into factions that, in other games, often feel lifeless or arbitrary.

What's perfect about Three Kingdoms, though, is that you can easily jump in and out of playing without losing track of what's going on. On the campaign map, everything is turn based so you can take your time plotting your next move, and even the real-time battles come with a pause feature (or you can just skip them altogether and trust the computer to decide the outcome). It's also a game that you can easily play for hundreds of hours, which is great if you're stuck in self-isolation and in need of a good distraction. Each faction is so unique it can sometimes feel like you're playing a different game. Lu Bü, for example, is all about sowing bloody chaos and keeping up his momentum from turn to turn, while Cao Cao excels at manipulating rival nations into fighting one another for his gain.

If Total War just isn't your style, give XCOM 2 a shot. It's less about grand strategy and more about maneuvering an elite squad through fatal combat encounters. If both are still too intense, Into the Breach is a fantastic micro-strategy game from the makers of FTL.

Slay the Spire

Card games have been the preferred method to kill boredom since time immemorial, but a lot of modern CCGs, like Hearthstone, focus too much on duels against other players with a limit on how long you have to complete your turn. That's not ideal when you're juggling other things, but Slay the Spire is a singleplayer card game roguelike that you can play on your own terms—and it was one of the best games of last year.

Each playthrough tends to feel different because you'll find different monsters and find different cards and items along the way, and the number of deck strategies you can create is mind boggling. It's a complex game, but it's presented in such an intuitive way that you can easily play a few rounds, jump out for a few hours, and come back without feeling lost. And because Slay the Spire is so challenging, it'll probably take dozens of hours before you ever reach the final boss, let alone defeat them.

If Slay the Spire isn't your jam, try out Dicey Dungeons , a deckbuilder roguelike that fully embraces randomness by incorporating dice rolls into everything you do. If you just hate cards, though, give Darkest Dungeon , a punishing turn-based roguelike RPG, a shot.

EVE Online

You might think that an MMO about player-built space empires fighting for control of a virtual galaxy would be full of chaos and action, but EVE Online is actually a pretty chill experience 99 percent of the time, at least so long as you don't actively wander into more dangerous areas or haul exorbitantly expensive goods without an escort. It can even be a little boring, which is perfect if you want something to idly poke at in between work-related tasks.

Though EVE Online's most exciting activities involve blowing up other players, there are dozens of things you can do to make money and have fun while working. The most profitable and least risky is to get into market trading, buying low and selling high at one of EVE Online's main trade hubs. Other players while away the hours mining ore, which can be done without actively paying attention but does present risks since other players love to blow up idle miners. With a little bit of practice, you can even run combat missions against the computer without having to pay much attention, or go hunting for lost relics using a cloaked exploration ship—you just need to always have an escape route ready so you can quickly drop everything should you suddenly have to look like you're working.

What's so fun about playing EVE, even if you're doing it passively, is that you're participating in a massive virtual galaxy full of other players. It's satisfying to slowly carve out your own corner of the galaxy, whether you're actively defending territory or just playing the markets to make a few billion ISK to spend on expensive ships.

If EVE Online is just too slow, Black Desert Online is a gorgeous MMO that caters to idle playing by letting you autopilot between destinations or even fish automatically while the game is minimized.

Spaceplan

Look, we're all ashamed by how many hours we've wasted playing Cooker Clicker or other idle games that end up becoming full-time obsessions. But Spaceplan is different: It's a clicker with a bizarre sci-fi story and a great soundtrack. The gist is that you're stuck on a stranded spaceship and the only energy source you have at your disposal is potatoes, so you craft starchy satellites and launch them at nearby planets to learn more about this strange solar system and unlock better tools so you can harvest more potatoes to create more energy. You know the drill.

But Spaceplan's secret weapon is its weird story that you'll slowly uncover as you fill the solar system with more and more spuds. It's all delivered through text, and you don't have to worry about leaving the game unattended for long while you focus on work. The only downside is that, unlike infinite clicker games, Spaceplan does have an actual ending that you'll reach after several hours. This isn't an infinitely playable game like others on this list, but it's so unique you should try it anyway.

If Spaceplan is over too quickly, try out AdVenture Capitalist, which takes clicker games to the extreme as you built a financial empire that would make Jeff Bezos jealous.

Best pals for your base and ranch.

If you know which Palworld creatures are the best Pals for your base , you can leave your base without having to worry about things like food production, logging, mining, and farming - just pick some skilled workers with the best work suitability traits, and they’ll do the work for you.

Here’s how to pick the best Pals for your base in Palworld.

How to Find the Best Pal Workers

The best Pals for your base are typically the ones with the best work suitability skills ; some Pals take on a variety of important tasks, while others are especially good at specific tasks (as indicated by the work suitability skill level, which may be higher than the standard level 1).

Pals working.jpg

Besides that, some Pals benefit from randomized personal traits that increase their work skills, such as the ‘serious’ trait (work speed +20%) or the ‘mine foreman’ trait (mining efficiency +25%). While the Pals listed below are typically the best Pals to work at the base, don’t forget to take a look at these personal traits - ideally, you’ll find a Pal with excellent work suitability skills and personal traits combined.

Best Pals for Your Base - Early Game

Based on their skills, here are the best Pals to place at your Palworld base at the start of the game, between player levels 1 and 15.

004 - Lifmunk

Of all the (very) early-game Pals you may encounter, the Lifmunk is the best Pal for your base as it can take on a large variety of tasks. After all, you won't find any Pals with high-level work suitability skills in early game anyway, so you might as well go for this chipmunk-of-all-trades. Furthermore, once you start your medicine production, around level 12, your Lifmunk is one of the few early-game Pals who can manage that task. You’ll find Lifmunks near the Ray Syndicate Tower amongst other places - just beware that they tend to give you a chase. If you're having trouble capturing a Lifmunk, Tanzee would be a good substitute.

002 - Cattiva

Although a bunch of Lifmunks can take care of the majority of the work, you also need an early-game Pal to handle transporting and mining. Cattiva is the perfect Pal for that, as they can do both. The mining skill is especially important in early-game, as you'll need a lot of stones for building.

Eikthyrdeer

037 - eikthyrdeer.

Wood is one of the most important resources in early-game, as you'll be doing a lot of crafting, cooking, and smelting. Eikthyrdeer is one of the few Pals with a lumbering skill at lvl. 2, which makes them an excellent worker for your base. You won't find a Pal with a better lumbering stat until you reach endgame.

042 - Arsox

Finally, while you don't need any cooling or electricity yet, a proper early-game Palworld base should have a kindler to prepare food and smelt ore. Arsox is a better early-game kindling Pal than Foxparks or Rooby , since they can also take care of lumbering. Having a secondary skill next to kindling is very handy as you typically don't need infinite kindling; once Arsox is done melting a stack of ore or preparing some food, they can make themselves useful by gathering wood.

Best Pals for Your Base - Mid Game

These are the best Pals to use at your base in mid-game, which is roughly from level 15 to 30.

011 - Penking

With no less than five different work suitability skills at level 2, the Penking has by far the best work suitability stats compared to other mid-game Pals. Some tasks are only needed once in a while (such as handiwork), but Penking can always do some mining when no other skills are needed. What's more, Penking can operate the cooler box which becomes available at level 13. Beware that this amazing base Pal is somewhat difficult to find; besides the level 15 Alpha Pal version, Penking only spawns in no. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary - the rocky island at the bottom of the map.

056 - Univolt

It’s hard to find Pals that can produce electricity in early-game, but that's fine; you don't need them until you unlock the Power Generator technology at level 26 . Once you do, the best Electric Pal to power the generator is the Univolt , which comes with a level 2 electricity generator stat and spawns in the Bamboo Groves, an area safe enough for a mid-game player.

050 - Beegarde

The true jack-of-all-trades, there’s no other Pal out there with as many work suitability traits as the Beegarde . Just drop the Beegarde in your base and they’ll take care of pretty much anything that needs doing. You can even assign your Beegarde to a ranch to obtain honey. That said, as mid-game players will be able to find base workers with slightly higher work suitability stats, Beegarde is best used as a jack-of-all-trades to jump on any task when none of the more specialized workers is available.

Best Pals for Your Base - Endgame

Here are the best Pal workers to place at your base after reaching Palworld's endgame. You should be at least level 30 or higher to capture these Pals.

Frostallion

110 - frostallion.

The Frostallion was only blessed with one work suitability trait, but they can do it better than any other Pal: cooling. With a cooling level of 4, the Frostallion is the best Pal to refrigerate the base’s food supplies. On the downside, you'll have to travel to the northern part of the desert to find this Pal.

096 - Blazamut

Together with Astegon , Blazamut has the highest mining stat. As if that’s not enough, Blazamut is also a great choice to take care of kindling. You can use Blazamut to smelt ores or prepare food, then send this Pal back to mining when it’s done.

104 - Lyleen

Like many Grass-type Pals, Lyleen has a wide variety of work skills. Make no mistake though; Lyleen is a specialized worker. Her planting skill and medicine production come with the highest stats in the game, and she’s also really good at handiwork.

091 - Wumpo

Wumpo has the highest lumbering stat, which makes it one of the best Pals for your base if you need more resources. On top of that, Wumpo has the highest transporting stat, which means that this Pal can quickly store your resources for you.

106 - Orserk

Finding a Pal with a high-level Electricity stat is difficult, but one you reach end-game, you can swap the Univolt for Orserk ; with an Electricity stat of level 4, Orserk is the best power-supplying Pal in the game.

Best Pals for the Ranch

The only work suitability skill we haven't mentioned much yet, is farming. Pals with the Farming trait can be assigned to a Ranch (which becomes available at level 5 ), where they will drop a particular item at certain intervals. A good example is Beegarde , whom we've mentioned above as one of the best base workers available. Beegarde drops Honey, which can be used to bake Cake needed for Pal breeding .

Besides Beegarde, here's an overview of the most useful Pals for farming.

Lamball - Wool

001 - lamball.

Wool is used to make cloth, and cloth is used in a great many crafting recipes, especially for armour and saddles. Lamball may not be useful for much else, but this early-game Pal will make it much easier to farm wool. Although they're harder to catch, Melpaca and Cremis also drop wool when assigned to a ranch.

Vixy - Various Items

Vixy digs up gold coins, arrows, wool, and even Pal Sheres when assigned to a ranch. If you aren't looking for a specific item, this early-game Pal is the perfect farmer for your base.

Flambelle - Fire Organ

070 - flambelle.

Fire organs are used in a great many crafting recipes , such as furnaces, saddles, weapons, and fire arrows. With the help of Flambelle , you'll easily gather enough flame organs.

Mozzarina - Milk

029 - mozzarina.

Milk is needed to bake cake, and cake is needed to breed Pals . As you can only get milk from the Mozzarina or a wandering merchant, it's always a good idea to reserve a spot on your ranch for this cow-like Pal.

Other Farming Pals

Here's an overview of the remaining Pals with a Farming trait. Of course, they can still be very useful Ranch Pals, but their drops are not as essential as those of their peers.

  • Chikipi : drops eggs. It's used in some food recipes, but you can easily find them in the wild as well. If you need more Cake for breeding, it can be a good idea to assign a Chikipi to your ranch.
  • Mau : digs up money. Good to have, but you can get it from plenty of other sources.
  • Caprity : drops berries. An early-game farm will give you all the berries you require, so there's no need for Caprity's drops.
  • Woolipop : drops cotton candy. This food type doesn't expire, so it can be useful to bring with you on exploration trips.
  • Sibelyx : drops cloth. Later in the game, you might want to swap Lamball for Sibelyx, so you no longer need to go through the trouble of turning wool into cloth.

11. Name That Tune

Name That Tune is a familiar activity you can adapt for virtual staff meeting games.

How to play:

  • The game leader creates a playlist of well-known songs.
  • The game leader asks player one how many seconds they need to hear to guess the name of the song. Then, the game leader asks player two the same question.
  • The player who bids the smaller number tries to guess the name of the song after hearing their chosen length.
  • If that player cannot guess the song, then the other player has a chance to guess.
  • The player who guesses the correct answer wins and moves on to challenge another player. If neither player guesses the answer, the leader moves on to two new players.

Here is a list of  high energy songs for conferences that work well for this game.

12. Headline or Head Lie?

Headline or Head Lie? is a virtual team meeting game that tests the internet savvy of your team.

Here are the rules:

  • The game leader gathers true headlines from around the internet.
  • The game leader creates two alternate headlines for each headline.
  • The game leader asks the attendees to choose which of the three is the true headline.

Pro tip: You can try to make your Head Lies as believable as possible to confuse players!

13. Story-Go-Round

Story-Go-Round is an interactive virtual game that encourages creativity from your team. The meeting host can collect a series of simple story prompts such as “Once upon a time,” “Deep in the woods,” and “On a planet far, far away.” The host then begins the story with a prompt and one or two lines before passing the tale to another teammate. This player adds a line or two before passing to another teammate. The story grows and changes each time a new storyteller takes the lead.

14. Show and Tell

Show and Tell can turn your virtual meeting into an online showcase. In this exercise, your teammates select a favorite item to share during the event. Then, participants can spend a few minutes describing the significance of the item and what makes it special. If your teammate is reluctant to share a sentimental possession, then you can ask them to choose a random item and create an entertaining story about it. This game is good for setting a relaxed tone at the beginning of a meeting.

15. Pizza vs. Burgers Challenge

Surveys like Pizza vs. Burgers are fun virtual meeting games to play with employees who like competition. The game leader creates a series of items to vote for, pairings such as pizza vs. burgers, coffee vs. tea, or chocolate vs. vanilla. The winning item from each round moves on to the next round. For example, if you begin with chocolate vs. vanilla and chocolate wins, then the next challenge is chocolate vs. mint. If mint wins, then the next challenge is mint vs. strawberry, and so on. You can list enough options for 10 or 12 rounds.

  • If the item is not identified after the first clue, the leader gives another clue, until a player guesses the item.

IntValue not found in leaderstats

I have this script to permanently monitorize a player’s “Tokens”:

But for some reason it always and always returns:

What is causing this problem?

Could we see the code for the leaderstats?

Do a :WaitForChild(“leaderstats”) instead of :FindFirstChild(“leaderstats”). Another thing is what’s the purpose of using the Heartbeat?

To constantly check every single player once every frame, should I use something else?

Instead of using Heartbeat, use this:

You are checking for player changes every single frame, meaning you are also spawning like a trillion changed() functions.

I’ve just used it and it says:

As I already asked, can we see the code for the leaderstats?

One of the main reasons I’m doing this is because I’ve seen some weird activity in my leaderstats. For example if I had like a part that is giving Tokens and stuff, it’s being saved, printed, everything goes according to plan. But if I go to the player tab in the outliner, search for the leaderstats and change the Tokens Value manually it’s not being saved or anything. That’s why I tried making that weird script

Are you modifying the values manually on the server? If you are modifying the values from the client, the server can’t detect it. To change mode to server to go Test > Current: Client and then click it. This only shows during playtests.

You misspelled “changed”, the method is called “Changed”

I don’t think it matters I tried documenting a little and saw people spelling it with the lowercase.

It doesn’t matter at all. His issue is about finding the leaderstats returns nil.

Tried it out and that solves the issue about “manually changing values”

Also, where is the leaderstats folder here? I don’t see any “instance.new(“Folder”)”

But that still begs the question why the leaderstats was being returned as nil

@Qapandt Where is the leaderstats?

In the script I just wrote at the beginning.

image

In the main script I have provided for @VerySillySausages you can see how I made the leaderstats via copying it from the ServerStorage
